Kurt W. Skelly
Senior Pastor
Born in San Antonio, Texas, when his father was in the military, Pastor Skelly was reared in Connecticut, from which his family originated. At 16 years of age, Pastor trusted Christ as his personal Savior in Newington, Connecticut.
Pastor met his wife Wanda at Hyles-Anderson College where he also earned a Bachelor of Science degree as well as a Masters degree in Pastoral Theology. A Masters of Divinity degree was attained at Emmanuel Baptist Theological Seminary.
Pastor and Wanda moved to the New Kensington area nine years ago when he answered the call to pastor here at Harvest. The Skellys have four children: Nathaniel, Joshua, Caleb, and Hannah. Wanda leads our Ladies' Teas which are usually held quarterly.
Pastor's philosophy of ministry is this: "God has a prepared place for a prepared person. My job is to know Him intimately. He will direct me and use me under the authority of my local church ministry to honor Him."
We praise the Lord for Pastor Skelly's sensitivity to the Holy Spirit and for his strong leadership and vision for Harvest Baptist Church.
Charlie G. Rousey
Assistant Pastor
Pastor Rousey was born and reared in Laurel, Mississippi, and trusted Christ as his personal Savior on March 13, 1981.
The Lord called Pastor Rousey to attend Hyles-Anderson College, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Theology. There he also met his wife Mindy. The Rouseys have three daughters: Annagail, Autumn, and Audrey.
Although the Rousey family has only been here since August of 2001, they have already made a great impact on our church and academy. Pastor Rousey serves as our academy administrator and teaches 4th grade math, computer class, and family life skills class in the academy. He also teaches an adult Sunday school class (the Cornerstone class) which meets at 9:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Mindy offers piano lessons to academy students. In addition, she also serves as our church's choir pianist and a special music accompanist.
Pastor Rousey's philosophy of ministry is that "God has established the local church to fulfill His Great Commission of preaching the Gospel, baptizing, and discipling converts. God has provided a pastor to lead the church and has equipped each member with a specific spiritual gift that is to be used for the edification of the church. The Bible is the final authority in all matters."
We are grateful for Pastor Rousey's commitment to our academy and praise the Lord for his faithfulness.
R. Dennis Smith
Assistant Pastor
R. Dennis Smith was born in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, and trusted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior in 1972.
Bro. Smith and his wife Kathy, who have been attending Harvest since 1990, have two grown children, Matthew and Alison, who are married and whose families are serving the Lord faithfully. Kathy leads our Ladies Bible Study which meets weekly on Thursday, and Bro. Smith teaches an adult Sunday school class (the Berean Class) at 9:45 a.m. in the Linc Room.
Earning a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering at the University of Pittsburgh, Bro. Smith worked as an engineer for many years at Westinghouse. Feeling the Lord calling him into full-time Christian service, Bro. Smith recently received his Master of Divinity degree at Baptist Bible Seminary.
Bro. Smith believes that Christian leadership means serving others (Matthew 23:10-11; Luke 22:25-26; and 1 Peter 5:1-3). We are delighted to have Bro. Smith on our staff. He truly is a faithful servant of God.
Seth Leeman
Assistant Pastor
Seth Leeman was born in Anderson, Indiana and trusted Christ as his Savior on July 29, 1993 as a preteen.
Pastor Leeman and his wife Karyn, who have been attending Harvest since 2006, have two young children, Emma and Aiden. Pastor Leeman teaches our young couples adult Bible class (A Solid Foundation) at 9:45 a.m. in the fellowship hall.
Earning a Bachelor of Science degree in pastoral ministries at Pensacola Christian College, Pastor Leeman oversees our Sunday School and Soulwinning ministries. He is currently working on completing a masters degree in Bible through West Coast Baptist College.
